Attorney Sheryl Shane brings more than three decades of legal experience to her dynamic and client-focused practice. Known for her deep commitment to justice and meticulous legal preparation, Ms. Shane is a seasoned trial attorney who has handled thousands of cases across Virginia’s court system. Her practice spans the Juvenile & Domestic Relations District Court, General District Court, and Circuit Court, where she is actively involved in representing individuals and families in complex and emotionally charged legal matters. In addition to her trial work, Ms. Shane is well-versed in post-conviction relief, including the filing of criminal appeals and pursuing other avenues to challenge or mitigate convictions and sentencing.

Ms. Shane earned her Juris Doctor from Thomas M. Cooley Law School in 1993, graduating with distinction. Her academic achievements include receiving the prestigious Jurisprudence Award in Ethics and demonstrating exceptional skills in Trial Advocacy. Prior to law school, she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Ohio University in 1983, where she gained valuable insights into human behavior—an asset that continues to enhance her courtroom advocacy. During her undergraduate years, she also volunteered at a State Mental Health Facility and a Hearing and Speech Clinic, reflecting her long-standing commitment to public service and empathy for those facing life challenges. She further broadened her academic background by completing business courses at the University of Colorado in 1985.

Before dedicating herself fully to the practice of law, Ms. Shane built a successful early career in the corporate sector. She held positions in sales, marketing, and management at a Fortune 100 company, focusing on television ratings analysis. This experience equipped her with strong analytical and communication skills—traits that translate seamlessly into her legal practice.

Ms. Shane’s personal achievements also speak to her discipline and drive. She earned a black belt in Tae Kwon Do in 1988 and successfully completed an Outward Bound program, a rigorous wilderness training course known for fostering leadership, perseverance, and resilience. These values continue to guide her both personally and professionally.

A lifelong learner and dedicated professional, Ms. Shane is committed to staying abreast of evolving legal standards and courtroom strategies. She has participated in Continuing Legal Education (CLE) programs for over 30 years, attending courses and seminars in both Virginia and Ohio. Her strong legal foundation is underscored by her successful passage of the bar exams in both states—each on her first attempt.
